GMA
Visits Santiago
On
December 28, 2007, President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo
(GMA) and party visited the town of Santiago during
their town fiesta celebration. The President was
welcomed by provincial officials headed the Gov.
DV Savellano, Congressman Eric Singson and the municipal
officials of the municipality.
GMA
arrived around 11:00 in the morning via her presidential
helicopter from Baguio City where the first family
stayed during the Christmas Season. The chopper
landed in the grounds of the Santiago North Central
School. From thereon, the presidential convoy went
to the municipal auditorium where she delivered
her message.
She
had lunch with the provincial, municipal officials
and selective guests at the Ilocos Marina in Sabangan,
Santiago. Well-wishers from the municipality and
as well from other towns lined-up at the stretch
of the National Highway and the roads going to Ilocos
Marina to take a quick look or if lucky they could
shook hands with the President. The heaving crowd
at the municipal auditorium got a douse of free
medical and dental treatment and corresponding free
medicines. Also, listed benefactors received a bagful
of groceries.
According
to reliable sources, the presidential visit was
orchestrated by Atty. Mamerto Ellorin who happened
to be a former classmate of the First Gentleman
during their Law School in Ateneo de Manila University.
