"GETTING TO KNOW A SAN ESTEBANIAN AND A HOMETOWN HERO"


     
Cresing Mr. Crescencio Europa Abad, born February 29, 1920 known as "Cresing" by everyone is a man of prestige and power, intellectual prowess and unsurpassed capabilities. As a youth, he won notice for his gallantry in his role as a World War II Veteran and accomplished so much in his generation. He became a lawyer and devoted himself to public service. People on his peer salute him for any task, for he does it with ease, relish and excellence yet very humble. He has received recognition and awards from various organizations and has served in various capacities with Filipino- American Organizations in Los Angeles, California. No one would wonder about his influence in the community for he knows what to do, what to say and when to say in a proper place and at proper time.

     The oldest among the five children of the late Lorenzo Abad and Margarita Europa of San Esteban, Ilocos Sur, and now resides in 1017 Rosemont Avenue, Los Angeles, California 90026 with his wife; Laurencia A. Abad. Their children are Leticia, Crescencio, Jr., Vivien and Crisgene.

      His impressive credentials are as follows:

EDUCATION:
Bachelor of Arts, University of Manila, 1947

MILITARY SERVICE:
Commissioned Third Lieutenant, Philippine Army, October 1941
Inducted into the USAFFE and fought in Bataan, December 1941 to April 1942
Survived the Death March and became a Prisoner of War, Capas, Tarlac, April - August 1942.
Joined the USAFIP-NL and fought in Abra, Ilocos Sur, and Mountain Province from October 1944 to June 1946 when honorably discharged as a First Lieutenant.
Commissioned Second Lieutenant, Army of the United States, in August 1946.
Returned to the Philippine Army in 1957 and last promoted to Major in 1969
