MAGIC
By
Plutz Tudlong
The
first time I heard about you, it was all glowing raves. Nothing
negative came out from the mouth of babes who have known you. I saw
pictures of you, indeed, you were beautiful. A lot of us fell in love
with you. We were intrigued, mystified and aroused. I lusted for you.
I then sought to be with you. Jostling for position, queuing in line
just to have a glimpse of you. I followed your rules to the letter,
delivered what you demanded from me, accomplished and carried out
your orders, and completed your conditions all because I wanted to be
with you. Your wish was my command!
I was
willing to spend for you and spend, I did. I sold my properties,
mortgaged some, and took out loans from banks and loan sharks, just
so I could satiate my wanting and desire to be with you.
Then,
finally, you said "YES"! That was one of my happiest
moments. I was so elated; I made a very elaborate "CANAO",
thanking the gods for giving me a chance to prove my worth with you.
I was willing to do everything for you, and have done everything I
could, indeed.
I
travelled the skies, flew on mechanized bird, just to be where you
are. Then I landed, I saw you up-close and personal for the first
time. You were a sight for sore eyes. Your beauty is breath taking.
Even in the darkness you stood out. Your eyes glowing, winking and
enticing people to flock to you. I was mesmerized by your beauty.
Enchanted with your presence. Allured with your charms. I wasn't the
only one. Every off-spring of Adam and Eve, from faraway lands and
different tribes were hypnotized by you. It wasn't only your beauty
that made MAN lusted for you. You gave opportunities to green horns
and learned men alike, to lie down on your bosom and be rocked to
calmness from the slow heaving of your chest. You offer a very
promising proposition one can NOT say NO to. You opened your palm for
us to feed on. You unselfishly opened your arms to embrace the throng
of people who seek you. You are a GODDESS in the midst of mortals.
You
tendered contracts to those who were lucky enough to capture your
fancy, either for limited or unlimited time. The contracts you
proffered were more like a marriage contract. But fickle minded as
you are, your minimum time of companionship was merely for three
years, then, to satisfy your whim and caprice, you immediately
terminate the contract divorce your object of affection in just a
flick of your finger. Notwithstanding the fact that you have bled us
out to death.
At
times, whenever you deem it fit, because of your selfishness and
insensitivity, you just kick out to desolate islands your numerous
admirers and suitors. Then, you take them IN again, soothing them,
giving them HOPE that they would again be feeding on your bosom. You
give as much but you take more than that you have given. You leech on
your lovers, ruin their lives, destroy their hopes and dreams. All
for your glory, despite all of these however, you never ran out of
lovers and paramours.
I DO NOT
KNOW WHAT MAGIC YOU HOLD ON US, oh MIGHTY DUBAI! Why can't you be
like other mother countries that offer and give so much love to its
migrants and workers who are willing to give their life and toil for
a better living? These same species that are the lifeblood of your
economy. These same species who will give you life in return for a
life that you give. DUBAI, DUBAI, DUBAI, you giveth and you taketh
more.
We are
like bees hovering on a man eating flower, lusting for your nectar
you are willing to give, yet, knowing that in doing so would lead us
to our untimely death!

and Exit Friends in Darya Hotel, Kish Island, Iran
Here
is a requested piece from a correlated friend I met from my 50 days
stay in Kish Island, Iran on my 4th
Exit. We hope that it will capture the interest of readers. If you
will notice, it is written under a pseudonym. A wish to be that
way. It is not that there is fear of retaliation or feedbacks but
just an aspiration to be this way to cover under the shroud
of mystery. Also, a request to downplay my friend’s profile as
a contributor. My chum is one of my numerous close encounters of the
third kind in one of my escapades.
The
1st paragraph speaks of how we prepared our travel papers,
documentations and transcripts in our journey to Dubai. The 2nd
speaks of how we raised the money to get visa and other expenses. The
3rd
and 4th
paragraphs speak for itself. The 5th reverts to finding and not
finding job. The 6th is the exit.
This
is just a 1st
of a series. Plutz is now a contributor of my column. We hope this
article would not cause the downfall of the number of our readers.
