In May

doc_ben

Dr. Galahad ‘BEN’ Vergara Barcelona was born in May.

He died in October.

It was a Monday afternoon.

And there was not a cloud in the sky.

It is easier said than done to empathize the abridgment of a person’s life.

Various inhabitants impart that it is determined by the one’s left behind.

Several people consider it can be quantified by in dedication.

A few say by love.

Other folks say existence has no significance at all.

Me, I judge that you gauge yourself by the citizens who assess themselves by you.

What I can chronicle to you is that by any rate Dr. Ben subsisted further on his ultimate days on earth than nearly all individuals… gentleman’s responsibility on a generation.

I know that when he departed this life, his eyes were sealed.

Nevertheless his heart was ajar.

“In May” was the 1st piano piece I played when I was in Grade 4. Auntie Florence was my tutor. I learned how to read musical notes from my Grade 4 Adviser, Miss Eulalia Cabatu. That is why I studied piano lessons by myself after Auntie Florence taught me how to play it through the G and Bass clefs.

It is in May that the late Kuya Ben was born with Kuya Percing, his twin brother.

My sunny Friends Forever Zan was born in May as well.

What’s more, Manang Geling Arce was born in May.

I was crowned as King Arthur in May in celebration of the Mayflower Festival.

In May, Brgy. Cappa-cappa and San Nicolas celebrate festivities.

I remember a lot of things in May.

I propped up with the title ‘In May’ because of the music that linger in my mind.

These are melodies. Unending harmonies that lighten my day as I battle life’s challenges away from home.
