Sunday is the
first day of the week. In the early days, Sunday
began to take the place of the Sabbath and
observed to honor the resurrection of Christ. It
was established as a day of rest, set apart
especially to the service of God by the Roman
emperor Constantine the Great. Religious and
civil legislation has regulated work on Sunday
and service attendance. It is then productive to
start this day with a very special mealtime to
develop a healthy mind and spirit.
My activities
on a Sunday morning include my Morning Prayer
and attendance to the Holy Mass. It is one of
our family traditions inherited from our
grandparents. We make this day as our family day
to strengthen our ties. The idea of having a
simple breakfast altogether prepares us to
attend the Mass and go to some place in which we
can rest and unwind.
I believe that
the best Sunday morning breakfast is listening
to the words of God in the Church - wisdom of
compassion and enlightenment that will guide us
start the week and for our everyday life. I
always pray for Him to help me remember that He
loves me greater than my disappointments when I
lose hope because my plans have come to nothing
and I trust that His plans for my life is always
better than my dreams.

As what I have
said before, I will need your comments, your
opinions and suggestions, so I can have focus,
so I can have inspiration. That is why this
column is accepting editorials to boost talents
in writing especially the youth of our town, San
Esteban. And as Dr. Ben believed, “Life is truly
beautiful, but life is also short. So let’s live
and enjoy it, and let’s re-connect thru
AFTERTHOUGHT”.
