HARANA GRAND FINALS
HARANA GRAND FINALS was opened by a spectacular presentation in a compilation of production numbers from the weekly contests completed after which by the Harana Juniors giving thanks to the lord by a doxology. The San Esteban Children’s Choir led the singing of the Philippine National Anthem, the Ilocos Sur Hymn and the San Esteban Hymn. They even interpreted the Harana theme song, Harana ‘Dyay plaza, livelier. As a usual gesture, the Harana Chairman, Mrs. Dolores T. Vergara, welcomed everyone especially numerous Balikbayans who were present that night. Hon. Armando V. Abad wished for peace and happiness to all in his Christmas message. It was a tough competition in the different portions of Harana. Intermissions were inserted like the violin rendition of Margaret and Frederick Hernaez and Miguel Cadoy III who sang while playing the piano. The members Board of Judges were, Atty. Vladimir Valera, Chairman, Mrs. Divina Valera, Capt. Leonardo Abad, Dr. Natividad Lacambra, Mr. Feliciano Abad Jr., Mrs. Vilma Orpilla, Mr. Antonio Racela Jr., Mr. Edmundo Benitez, and Dr. Nida Hernaez.
Before the start of the contest proper, Christmas incentives were given to seven indigents for every barangay. The Aloha Medical Mission from Hawaii, which was brought in by Mrs. Vilma Vergara-Orpilla, donated the said love gifts. Assisted by the mayor and SBM Florence Ramirez, almost all qualified indigents received their $10. Mrs. Orpilla read a short message in behalf of their president, Dr. Ben Galindo.
